Tapestry Bundling Yarn
Historically tapestry is woven with a limited palate of hand-dyed colourways, known as the Economy of Colour, with the intention of creating additional colourways by holding multiple strands of different colourways together, also known as 'bundling' or 'blending on the bobbin'. This practice is among the earliest uses of optical blending in art.
I offer two kinds of yarn for bundling. Bio Shetland and Eco Vita. If you're new to tapestry consider purchasing only all Bio Shetland colourways or all Eco Vita colourways for bundling, as they are different gauges (Bio Shetland is fingering weight and Eco Vita is light fingering weight yarn)
Weave Bio Shetland in a double strand for projects woven at 6-8 ends per inch.
Weave Eco Vita as follows: Hold 3-4 strands together for weaving at 12 ends-per-inch, 4-6 strands for weaving at 8 ends-per-inch, or 6-8 strands for weaving at 6 ends per inch.
